Scooter Parking in Brisbane CBD Scooter Parking in Brisbane CBD BCC Has made some significant changes to scooter parking in the city. Read on for more info. BCC Brisbane's Motorcycle Parking Strategy will deliver an increase in
parking spaces in areas of high demand in the Brisbane CBD.
The aim of the Strategy is to provide clearer definition for
motorcyclists of where they can park legally, particularly on
footpaths and road related areas. The Motorcycle Parking Strategy
is being implemented on the 28th July 2008, to provide dedicated
signed parking areas both on footpaths and on road at selected
locations throughout the CBD.
Some of the locations are already being used for motorcycle parking
but will be formalised to provide clearer definition of where parking
is permitted. This will mean that at some locations there will be a
slight decrease in the number of parking spaces however there will
be additional parking spaces provided in several new locations
throughout the city.
In all 450 spaces will be provided with the majority being free.
These locations will comprise a mix of both on-street (charged) and
footpath parking (no charge).
After the changes are implemented enforcement will occur on
footpaths where motorcyclists park outside the designated bay
areas, as well as on street where compliance with signs or
regulations does not occur. Parking multiple scooters or
motorcycles in the bays is permitted. All motorcycles parked in Pay
and Display zones need to have valid coupons.
